Decentralized Identity Foundation (DIF): Microsoft, IBM, others tackling Web 3 identity for DAPPs

Per the DIF's Twitter bio, members (including non-profits, startups, and Fortune 100 tech companies) have joined forces to build "an open source decentralized identity ecosystem for people, organizations, and devices that enables a new class of apps and services."

Web 3 is coming. The explosion of blockchain tech brings the promise of a decentralized Internet — from identity to personal data and even the social graph.

But what does that mean for software development, product management, and business in general? When will Web 3 disrupt existing UX paradaigms, markets, and business models?
